2025: Fundraising Year in Review
Over the course of 2025, Wolf Hollow held several fundraisers, many of which were part of community centered grants. Deep thanks for everyone that was able to donate to one, two, or all of the efforts!
- Wildlife Education Van: This project was part of the San Juan Island Community Foundation SJI Cares Campaign, SJC Fair booth, the Town and County LTAC (the county lodging tax grant), and the Orcas Community Foundation OrcasGive holiday program. Through these opportunities, the center was able to raise $27,000 towards the 50K goal.
- Giving Tuesday: On December 2, 2025, the center was fundraising for our general fund. A regular donor stepped up with a match of 2k. The event, before the match, garnered $2,932. This provided the center with $4,932 towards the general fund!
- San Juan Island Community Foundation: Held during the fall grant cycle, Wolf Hollow applied for funding for staff continuing education. Through that program, we received $1,699.40 towards the staff’s professional development which included admittance to the NWRA Conference for our rehabilitators and BeaverCorps training for a future research project.
- End of the Year Match: To round out 2025, Wolf Hollow continued fundraising again for our general fund that keeps the center open and running. Surprisingly, a current donor, who requested anonymity, came forward on December 15th with an offer of a generous match of 40K. Some donors were all ready on track to donate but were very happy to find out their donation would be doubled. Others expressed they were inspired to donate because they knew their support would go farther!
- Wild Times: Our print mailed newsletter, arrived in mailboxes just before the holidays. This brings in checks mailed before the new year that are just arriving at the center now. As of January, we are at $38,288 towards the 40K goal. Keep an eye on social media for updates on our progress!
Thank you!
“Those two words do not adequately describe how much your monetary support, volunteer time and in-kind donations mean to us. It really means everything,. As I have said before, and I will say again, we cannot do our work without you. We do not receive any regular government funding. While we do receive an occasional federal or state grant, those are not available right now. The center can apply to other competitive grants, however, the competition for those grants is now highly competitive. More than ever, every nonprofit is looking at every grant opportunity possible. Grants that once received 20 applicants now receive 70, larger ones that would get 500 now get 2,000. We are in rough times all around.
That is another reason; that you made the choice to share your precious resources with the center, with saving wildlife, is so meaningful. While thank you is not enough, it is what we have to offer you in spades.
We all wish you a Happy New Year, full of peace, warmth and love.”
